Abu-Bakr Al-Siddiq’s
Ten Commandments to the Moslems’ Army.
O, people I command you with
Ten Commandments: Don’t betray. Don’t deceive. Don’t torture. Don’t
kill a child, an old man, or a woman. Don’t cut a palm tree or burn
it. Don’t cut a fruitful tree. Don’t slaughter a goat, a cow or a
camel except when you want to eat.
You will pass by people who
seclude themselves in hermitages, so leave them and what they secluded
themselves for. You will pass by people who will serve you with dishes
of different kinds of food; if you eat from that food, mention the
name of Allah.
